When I was driving to class this morning, I looked down to check the RPMs and it was stick at around 1,600...but was held there for around 5 seconds. It would then swing to the RPM that I had come to and would stick there for 5 or so seconds. Then once i had idled down at a stop light it would read from 1000 to 500-600 rpm smoothly. Then once i started gaining RPM it would start sticking again. I suspect that since the transmission (manual) was still somewhat cold that it wasnt reading right, because now that it is warmed up it seems to be working fine. Ideas?

Thanks guys.

Was it just the gauge? Did the engine feel and sound like the RPM's were sticking? Back a few years ago I upgraded my TB and the blade would stay open for a few seconds. I got sprayed and cleaned the inside where the blade is and I never had that problem again...maybe you have some buildup there that's causing the same problem. Or maybe the throttle bracket/linkage is sticking.

No the motor is running fine dude. I have stock gauges and everything including the throttle body and plenum is stock. The rpms went up and down smoothly but it was just the gauge sticking.

Hopefully it's nothing electrical. Maybe there's something wrong with the needle...

Well the funny thing is, is that it only has done it once. And it has been fine since. Is there any sensors that could be going bad?
