I have a 66 Coupe with 289. The instrument lights have always been "iffy". If you turned the dimmer to just the right spot they lit a little. Now they've gone out completely AND the tail lights don't come on. Headlights, brake lights and turn signals all work fine and are good and bright (as much as can be expected anyway). Any suggestions? Are these seperate issues? Why brake lights and not tail lights? Thanks for any help.

start by replacing the headlight switch. also check the fuse for the instrument panel lights as it also controls the tail lights as well. as for why brake lights and no tail lights, they are separate circuits.
