I have a 2003 GT and recently noticed that the tail lights are different. The backup lenses are different colors, one is smoked and the other is clear. I would like to know which one is original, becuase i would like to have them matching, and where is the best place to get one?

Back up lens are suppose to be clear.

If you want stock factory tails, eBay has got to be the best place to find them. There are usually many being offered, from people who replaced theirs with aftermarket tails.

I doubt that they started out different. I have a 2001 and I watched my left one discolor over the course of a month to the point where the whole lens looked smoked...at first they looked the same, then one day it just started at the top and worked its way down. Apparently it's not an uncommon problem from 99-04, although it's a sucky one. It kind of seems like there's a leak in the seal of the tail light assembly, like it got dusty inside or something, but there's no moisture...I don't get it.

Probably the plastic oxidizing or reacting. Just overlay it with some tint... then you have smoked tails
