My mechanical advance was frozen and I'm trying to fix. I've got it moving but have to take the cam portion off the shaft so I can get it moving better. I removed the clip under the lube wick. Does the cam portion just slide up now? Got an exploded view of the parts? It is still too gummed up to work properly so I want to clean and lube.
Can you get new springs easily?

PS
I didn't pull the distributor from the car, it's not necessary right?
thanks in advance

I believe you will need to pry the cam off the shaft.
I have some what limited internet at work, maybe something in here can help you out...
