Hey, i just got my pa performance starter yesterday, we spent 3 hours trying to get the top bolt off and ended up not being able to, someone told me to get like a 2 ft extension and go from the front of the engine, but i dont see how cause all the stuff in the way, yesterday we even got off the o2 sensor and still didnt have enough room to get 1 click from the ratch or had no leverage in any angle, any help please? car is in the air right now

ahh thanks guys, i got like 3 extensions found ythe spot in the front and just cant do it, im gonna strip the bolt, and it always pops off so im just gonna stop, ill just let a shop do it when they do my quadrant, firewall adjuster and clutch cbale, i really would have liked to do it myself but i just cant

Wobble extensions help as well. The male end is not totally square and it will allow some pivot, just like a universal but not as bulky and not quite as much motion.

Harbor frieght has these pretty cheap. Otherwise snap on or some real tool place should have them. Never seen them at the home depot.

Possibly NAPA may carry them at a reasonable price.

Not sure if you pulled off the pas. side header if that would help to go in from the top...I was about to pul mine out when I re-snugged a ground wire and the car cranked right up, I was so hapy i didnt have to pull my starter off, looks like a total biotch

Those Wobbles are awesome, and cheap too from harbor freight!
That being said I did mine before bying the wobbles and just used a bunch of extensions from the front of the motor like everyone else did.

heres wat i did and it got it off. get a deep 1/2 socket for a 1/4 ratchet. then put one long extension on it.the 1/4 ratchet should extend just past the starter and clicks about 1-2 sometimes 3 times if your lucky. if you feel like you dont have good leverage, use a long extension from a 1/2 ratchet and put the opened boxed end on the 1/4 ratchet's bottom to give you extra leverage. worked for me.

lol you werent online when i asked that, i couldnt find that spot, and ive already striped a 1/2 bit, hopfully havent stripped the bolt yet, i gave up, its the weekend maybe i should try it again, its such a pain, i have like 3 extensions and can reach it but just cant turn the damn bolt, ive used wd40 like a mother and still wont budge, just pops off the bolt, i guess i could try a 13mm again if the bolt isnt stripped then im ****ed. :bang:

cheater bars work wonders...slip a pipe of some sort over the ratchet and get some extra leverage w/ the longer pipe. I used the air rachet on mine :D Also, PB Blaster seems to work better than WD40 for me

ahh i just tried again, i dont think i have the patients (i cant spell :bang: ) to put the car up a 4th time to get the same results, im just gonna leave it, i had my buddy this time so i held the socket on the botl while he turned and still striped or poped off so im leaving it before i mess soemthing up, thanks for the help though guys, ill just get it put in when i get my clutch parts in
