My 87 GT has a red stripe going all the way around the car on the moldings. I think i want to take it off to give the white car a more clean look. I'm almost positive that it's just a sticker all the way around. Any tips on taking it off . What should i use the get it off?

thanks

I would buy the stripe kit, in white, from Graphic Express, and simply go over the existing stripe. Just clean the red stripe, super good with glass cleaner and/or isopropyl alchol and you will be good to go. The problem with removing the stripe, is that it will be a complete b!t*h to remove, firstly. Then *if* you can get it all off, there is no guarantee that the paint will be any good, underneath it. More than likely, you will take off a decent amount of paint, during the removal process! Save yourself A LOT of time and aggravation, and spend $30 for the white stripe. (Unless you really want to paint!) :nice:

I would kill to have my car have its red stripe back. My car was originally the same color and molding stripe. Now it is titanium and white. :notnice: I would personally keep the stripe because it is original and original paint makes the car worth more.

The easiest and cleanest way to get rid of pinstriping is and eraser wheel, used em many time and is great! The local hardware store wont have it but Advanced or Oreilys should. Its a drill attachment thats is made of eraser like mtrl that buffs the stripe away, be careful not to dig the tool into ur paint or it will burn it just like a regular buffer will. If you cant find one at the Adv go to the closest body shop supply store and theyll have it.
