I guess it never ends with this car. Anyways, I am getting a tapping sound at idle, which sounds like it is comming from the front of the car, maybe more towards the passenger side of the engine. It is not a knocking sound, but it is definatly noticeable at idle and low rpm's. It seems to happen at about half the speed of the engine at idle or so. Also seems to come and go, it is not constant. I am also getting what feels like a slight miss at idle, as I get a shudder/vibration through the chassis infrequently.
Also, on the highway when I give it some gas, I get quite a bit of valvetrain noise, especially at ~2.5k and up till near redline as far as I can tell. If this is normal, then I have the noisest 4.6 ever made.
I also have continued issues with what sounds like pinging.
Here is what I have checked as far as solving the tapping/valvetrain noise:
Fuel Filter replaced
Injectors LOOK ok
new plugs/wires
Vacuum hoses look ok
This is what I think it could possibly be:
Lifter
Wrist pin
Spring
Rod bearing
Obviously, to check the first two I will have to tear apart the motor which I will probably have to do anyways. I don't want to go into the heads either but if it fixes it, whatever.
