Hey guys.........I'm still a green Stang owner........How safe is it if you tap the rev limiter? I mean, I guess that's what it's for but I've tapped it a couple of times this week. Also, my '02 GT has 71K miles.......Do these engines do well when taking a beating at those miles? Anyone ever experience any power loss due to high miles? I've always heard that we don't generally need to change out plugs til 100K miles. How would I know if I need to do that? Is there a code for that? Sorry I keep asking so many questions, I'm just curious.......Any advise?? Thanks!!!!

The rev limiter is there to save your engine. I would practice shifting so not to hit it too often. It really wont hurt anything while you are n/a and at a lower power level.

Yes there is always power loss at high mile levels. As long as you do your normal maintenance to the engine, you should be fine. The spark plugs could be meeting their end of days but all you have to do is pull them out and have a peak at them.

I changed mine because of mods, not mileage.

Very True...!!! Changing the oil every 3k and using a bottle of seafoam every 10k will keep your engine running smooth and in the power band! My car has 71,000 miles and just keeps getting better and faster! It dynoed last week and 264rwhp and 303rwtq and its and aode! My shift points are set at 6050 rpms and I never had a problem with it reving for blowing a rocker or valve float! I believe anything over 6200 and then you start having problems.....but bumping the rev limiter will not hurt your car....it just cuts off fuel and pulls timing!
