I read an article in the previous month's 5.0 that mentioned the owner of one of the featured cars adding a bottle of Torco to the car I guess to boost the fuel.

What is this and is it all hype?

It is effective. I use it occasionally to turn 13 gallons of 92 octane into 100 octane.

Is that measured, or are you stating that based on the mnf calculations?

Can you "feel" any difference?

in order to "feel" a diff it would be in the tune ie: more boost or more timing, which you can run with the higher octane.

I think I'm gonna give this stuff a shot. After this last round of mods and retune, the tuner suggested to mix 100 octane in when driving hard or at the track. But this seems to be a cheaper alternative than getting a couple gallons of VP fuel.

Anybody else have any experience with Torco?

seems pretty expensive to me?

$85 for 6 cans, each can treats 5 gallons, is 100 octance race fuel more than $17 a gallon?

Torco race fuels and products are the best in my opinion. They work great. If the pros use them with great results you should too. Great products do cost a lil more though.

I can get 5 gallons of VP Street Blaze 100 Octane for about $60, so the TORCO is a deal considering 6 bottles will turn 30 gallons into 100 octane.

Jesus thats rediculous. At Englishtown, Atco, and Island Dragway the tracks by me, you can get VP 100 octane for about $6.00 a gallon. My dad mixes 1 part 116 octane with 3 parts Sunoco 93 octane in the Nova, and pays about $6.75 a gallon for the 116.

Thanks for the replies...I think it will be helpful if you have a multi-tune device where you can change the tune for the situation, then dump a can in.

go here and you can figure out what you need to do.racing fuel calculator .com.am using 2 1/2 gals. vp 101 at 5.99 a gal. and 14 gals. of 91.comes out to 93 oct.

Can't go by the calculations on the bottle, as they are not linear. I talked with Torco and asked them to calculate what I could get with 13 gallons of 92, since that is all we get for premium in Oregon.

As for feeling it ... well, yes, but on my STI only, because the ECU will add timing with higher octane gas, up to a point. On a dyno test we've seen about a 25 whp gain as the ECU learns. On the Mustang I don't bother, since it's stock again .

What octane are you starting at? Six bottles of Torco will turn 78 gallons of 92 into 100.

I buy it by the 5 gallon drum and it is under $10 for a can.

If you only use one can for 5 gallons (of 93 octane), you'd get 107, not 100 . If you do 10 gallons, then it's 104. If you do 20 gallons, it's 97.

Hey Dave, how long did it take to arrive to your house? I want to buy a 5 gallon drum, but need it by Wed-Thur. Did some math and called them to confirm, so Im going to give it shot.

5 gallon drum cost's: $148.60

5 gallon's = 20 of their 32oz bottles

1 32oz bottle will turn 5 gallon's of 92 octane to 106 octane

2 bottles (64oz) will turn 10 gallon's to 106 octane

So, 5 gallons of this stuff will make 100 gallon's of 106 octane fuel out of 92 octane.

So with 92 octane @ $3.50 per gallon X 100 = $350 + 148.60 = $498.60 for 100 gallons of 106 octane fuel.

Which then turns into $4.99 per gallon of 106 octane fuel.

Seem's like a very good deal to me, almost (2) 55 gallon drums worth of 106 octane fuel, and alot easier to transport, just keep a couple of bottles in the trunk or whatever. specially if you compare VP's C12 / 108 octane (which is about the same octane rating) cost's 558.15 for 54 gallons.

How does this stuff react to stock o2 sensors? I know alot of guys run 116 or so leaded at 2-3gal to 3/4 tank of 93 (prem. here) at the track with good results.

I try to go to the track with around 1/2-3/4 tank of 93...our tanks are what 12-14gal? so a can or two would be GREAT for the track or just if I want to bottle it and be safe on the street in a pinch.

I was really thinking about buying a track gas can and running 100 octane unleaded or mixing 116 with the 93 (avail. several places around me not just at the track)...this would be ALOT better if at 1/2-3/4 (6-10gal) would be 106-100 octane

There is a 76 station by my work that pumps 104 octane race fuel for $5.59 a gallon, here is non smog friendly california.
