is this pulley supposed to spin? i thought it was, i noticed an odd smell, coming from my car, and then a squeek once and while, so i popped the hood today while it was running and the pulley wasnt spinning. are these easy to replace? what could cause it to seize up like that? is this a small symptom of a bigger problem or just wear and tear? anyone know wher i can get a replacement for a good price?

Yes, the pulley is supposed to spin. Watch out when changing the pulley though, it is a reverse thread bolt. All it means is that the bearing is seized up, no larger issues to be concerned with.

simple fix. just wear and tear. switch it out and problem solved

Like everyone said, easy fix. I think they run you about $20 at Autozone, or Checkers.

i just fixed this problem 2 days ago, it costs $20 and I did not have to reuse the washers that were on the front and back side of the old idler pulley. Very easy fix, under 20 minutes.
