I just changed my belt, it was the exact same size as the one I had one before. Ever since then though when the engine is cold and I start it up it makes a HORRIBLE squeeling sound. Until it warms up alittle. I have no a/c or smog. The tensioner is self adjusting correct? Should I maybe get alittle bigger belt? Or is it just a huge coincidence that the tensioner went out right when I changed the belt. The tensioner arrow is out of the range too, atleast when the car is off, its all the way to the right (looking straight at it) just past the range mark. I wanna rip out my ears everytime I start my car, please help.

Thanks, anyone else think itll just stretch?

I work at advanced auto parts, so its from there. It was cool though, the night before I had helped my manager install a belt on his car after we closed, on the clock, and the next night hes asks, "you wanna do your belt?" I just said sure, hes like you dont have to pay for it if you dont want. The one I had was lookin a little rough.

The belt should stretch alittle, but the squealing you hear is the pulley bearing. I would replace the tensioner.

Or the pulley, I forget where but the sell a billet tensioner pulley that is a very nice peice. Remember, the bolt that holds the tensioner pulley are reverse threads.

I'll probably just change the tensioner and the pulley, I read around that people changed the pulley and it didnt help.

Its possible when you were taking the tension off, that the spring wore out from being opend up.

did you doubble check that the belt is on the crank pully right and not one groove off or something.

sounds like the tensioner is worn out to me but check the alignment on the pullys just incase
