Circuit court judges are usually elected officials also. They made the decision to award the cars to the police, not the police themselves. If you feel outraged by this, I'd hate to see your opinion on eminent domain.

What rules did the government break? Did you have the court dockets from the offenders in these cases to know the circumstances in which the cars were confiscated? The police can't just take something, a court has to give them permission.

More BS. An American buys property and teh government has the right to take it? I find it amusing that there are some people who are OK with what has been happening to our country. Little by little, our freedoms are being taken away from us. It may not be bad now, but wait another 50 years and lets see who's still happy with the government.

that pissed me off alot, no dont get me wrong, I hate cops peroid, there are only about 3 that I respect ever. That just means now that Im gonna save up and get a 351 dart with a 101mm turbo and run from that car, which is stock, I know they wont leave it modded, becasue our county got a new edge dare car that had a blower and all kinds of crap on it, got impounded from a drug runner, and they stripped the car to stock, and put a light rack and other stuff on it, and made it gay...

just another reason to get a turbo 351 with about 1200 horse now...

It dosent say that the Officer who made the original stop is now driving the car. It became an police car along with other cars they confiscated.

For all we know The cobra could have been involved in a drug raid and then it was decided to be used in street racing stings. The owner could be in prison. There is alot we do not know about this.

who knows..it may of been street racing but also maybe he got pulled over a found alot of drugs...if so then it gets impounded, if he is in jail...the car would go to auction...or the please do this...about 3 years back there was a 90 LX 5.0 vert that was pulled over for doing 132 down the highway...when he pulled over they found alot of drugs in the car..it was impounded and turned into a dare car...

maybe thats what hapend...who knows...all i know is id love to be the cop that got to drive that everyday.

Why all the haters? The law is the same here in VA. If you're caught street racing, the city/state has the right to seize your car. Its not one of these "give me your keys and forget this ever happened" kind of things you guys are bitching about. Its a long drawn out legal process. First they would have it impounded until the trial and then the judge would decide if the seizing the car on a permanent basis would be the best form of punishment for that particular individual. Its not a blanket thing like, "you were racing, now your car belongs to me."

Yeah, it sucks to be the previous owner, but ya know what? I don't really feel sorry for him. He screwed up so bad that the state saw fit to take his car as payment for his crime? Tough cookies!

On the other side, it would be a BLAST to be a patrol officer in a car like that.

21 years ago while driving around in my 87 gt in my hometown i spot an 85 gray gt mustang with an older man driving it.we come up to a light and i take off thinking he wants to race but he doesn't take off. i pull into a gas station and grab a pop[soda] and head down the road and turn into a subdivision when i get pulled over by a marked car ,and here behind him comes the guy who happened to be an undercover cop in an unmarked vehicle.i felt he was egging me on to race and i took the bait.so with the way the laws are down there i would have lost my car .i don't condone street racing but i think when your young we tend to do foolish things.the worst i got for my foolishness at the time was a careless driving ticket but he said he could have wrote it for reckless.

Think about all the stretch the police are getting from rolling that Cobra into a patrol car. How many people read this thread alone? Hmmm...made quite an impression and agree with it or not everyone who read this thread will think twice before putting a 12 second run down the local by-way.

Something tells me the ex-owner of that Cobra wasn't just playing around between stoplights to get into that kind of trouble.

im pretty sure the car wasnt siezed for doing 80 in a 65...im sure it was a variety of violations that most probably suspended the drivers license and or jail time and or fines and also resulting in siezure of their ride. Bottom line, if it was a honda we would be laughing right now, but its a nice looking cobra....it pinches a nerve in all of us.

"Don't do the crime if you can't do the time" Couldn't say it any better. Street racing is ILLEGAL. There is NO if, ands, or buts. If you decide to break the law then you have to deal with the consequences. Also, they don't take your car on your first offense. Its just like robbery. Its takes a few times and then you get thrown in jail/car taken. This happens all the time around my state with DUI's. After there 3rd or 4th offense the City takes there cars/trucks. Just recently in the paper a town near me got a new Ford pickup.

Its a simple as it sounds, if you break the law you will pay for it. I love the idea of it. I hope it really impacts street racing. Because i know i wouldn't want my 30k Mustang taken from my hands with no saying in it.

You guys take this all defensive as if there were "dissing" our Mustangs. They aren't doing that, they are just giving the fool who USE to own this cobra what he deserves. For all we know, he could of killed a person in street racing. You don't know the facts so you can't judge any of this.

But what i do know for a fact..... is that Cobra just got a whole hell of alot cooler!
