terrible squeaking! please help!

hi all,
my 1986 mustang is getting old! has anyone experienced a high pitched squeaking sound that goes faster as you accelerate, and it slows down as the car starts coming to a stop. At about 0- 15 mph though, there is no sound.
Could this be a bearing or something? Is it dangerous, or is it just something that will annoy me till i get it fixed.

Is it faster as the engine revs, or relative to absolute speed?

It can be myriad things depending upon your answer.

If it sounds like it is coming from your dash, it is probably your speedometer cable.

Yeah where is it coming from? Under the car...maybe a u joint. In the dash? Maybe the speedo cable. We need more info please.
