about all i can say...i'm in the market for a 99-up GT or 03'-04' Mach 1...basically which ever i can get for a real good deal. I drove a friends 03' Mach 1 and man...for just having flow cat-back...that thing *****in ripped!

i'm guessing everyone suggests 03-04 Mach 1...for best bang for buck?

how are the 99-up GT's?

I dunno how you can say the 99 Cobra sucked....I am also in the market for pretty much the same type of car/cars.....also am interested in bullitt's

I am having a hard time finding 99 Cobra coupes....I can find a handfull of VERTs no problem though.....

the nice thing about the mach1's is they come with the solid rear...with the cobra you would have to swap that s*hit out....I just think the mach is a little out of my price range...

I am looking in this order

99/01 Cobra
01 Bullitt
01+ GT

Having a hard time finding anything locally

if youre buying a cobra... wait until spring when the 05s have finally saturated the market. Plenty of people will be trading in thier pre-03 cobras, and 99+ GTs.

Personally I'd say get a Mach or wait till the 03/04 cobras drop in price... they will eventually

I test drove a 99 Cobra before I bought the bullitt. It did not pull any harder than the bullitt according to my SOTP.

Before the SVT hounds eat me, I know that SVT vehicles are more refined vehicles, Both vehicles were the same price. I am just saving that 200+ dollars extra each 6mos(insurance) for mods, I enjoy modding my car anyways.

Add in the collectability of the Bullitt and My decision was made.

BTW both cars were awesome, the bullitt was just for me.

I have a 99 cobra. My uncle has a bullitt. I have to say that at first i thought the cobra sucked. But you really have to know how to drive this car. Not any person can get in it and just gun it and blow away most other cars. These cars love the RPM's You have to stay in your power band and you have to drive it like you stole it. I have drove the bullitt a lot and for me i would never own one.

I understand where you guys are comming from. But, the reason why they "seem" slow is b/c of their gearing. It takes the cobra to long to get in its power range. Put some 4.10's in and then drive it.

The Mach does have better gearing, 3.55 to i think 3.27 in the cobra, also i think the Mach 1 cams give it more low end torque where the cobra likes to rev more. My brother has a 99 cobra and its alot faster than it might feel.

Not true...Mach's have high compression, but there are several Machs here on the boards running 6-8psi with no problems. Just my $.02

dunno what ford was thinking keeping 3.27's in the 99 and 01 cobras....with more gear they feel much better. Plus 01's are stronger than 99's

a 99 Cobra is far from slow. Mach 1's are faster, but let's be real here. 99 Cobras aren't THAT far behinf the Mach.

the cobra didn't seem slow as hell...but the Mach 1 seemed alot faster just driving both...although...i didn't get to beat the Cobra...as i beat the snot outta the Mach...and boy..was it fun!

I would plan on charging what ever stang i get....so the Mach's are outta the question for SC?

Trust me, put some gear and a solid axle in a 99/01 cobra and it would be just like a Mach 1.

My friend has a 99 w/ a solid axle full boltons and 4.56's and he runs 12.1@116.

Us IRS guys would never hit that number n/a w/ boltons. (well we might do it once then the halfshafts would be snapped)

There are a few problems with blowers on the Mach. Like someone said, the Machs are running a 10.1 CR which is NOT boost-friendly. Also, Mach 1's have Navigator cams, which are more suited to mid-range RPM power and low end torque. Centri. blowers really dont exert their full potential until fairly high up in the RPM band. So, if you supercharge a Mach with a centri. blower, you arent really making the power you COULD be nor are you making the gains that other 4.6L cars are seeing with the same setups. 03+ Cobra's are having the same problem, thats why you see more and more ATI Provharged Cobra's resorting to KB for their forved induction needs

so your saying...don't waste the money on the Mach 1...just get a 99-02 GT or Cobra...and do some bolt ons? at first i planned on doing gears, short throw,exhaust,intake...and subframe connectors...then do charger later on when money applies.do the 99-02 GT's run good with just full bolt ons? and do they have solid rear axle? what do u mean about solid rear anyways? the Cobra's aren't like a front wheel drive in the rear are they? i know...its a stupid question.
