I know that in automotives we tested oil presure by removing the distributor and running the oil pump with a drill. I am wondering if you can do that with the 289 and if so what is the best set up. Thanks for the information. It's been along time and having a hard time remembering all the crap I haven't used since High School.

same deal, you can use a long 1/4" drive extension with a 1/4" socket for a 289-302, or a 5/16 socket for a 351... JUST MAKE SURE the socket and extension cannot separate themselves from your drill. if either one falls into the motor, you either have to drop the oil pan, or drop the oil pan to retrieve it.

Thanks, was pretty sure it was the same deal. Mental note, do not loose the socket!

If you do loose it, it ain't a big deal. It'll just take up residence in the bottom of the oil pan, where it can't go anywhere else.

You can buy a priming shaft from an auto parts store that will hook into a drill for like 10 bucks.
