testing power windows?

i found a guy that selling the doors off his fox with all the componets, and there power windows. well there not on the car and not hucked up, can i just plug a 9v or 12v battery to the motor wire for a quick check to make sure they work?

yes.
I bought a driver side and was sent the pass, so i switched the polarity to reverse the rotation and changed the bracket to put it on my driver side.
To test it, i just put each end to one terminal on my battery. All well
safe bet, just dont let the wires touch
