I have a couple friends who are saying that they are running a TFI distributor in a carbed car, and using the computer too... Although they really don't know much about mustangs...

Waste of time. Go buy a rebuilt disy from Autozone...they're cheap....and then try this Dirt cheap Ignition. I was going to do the same thing but then i came accross a Malory Unilite for cheap.
The TFI ignition requres the computer to provide spark advance. The computer relies on input from the TPS, ECT, ACT, MAP/BARO and MAF in Mass Air cars to calculate the spark advance. No sensors, no spark advance. You can lock the timing but that isn't very effective. You lose maximum advance because the car won't start good with 36-38 degrees spark advance. Locking it at 20-25 degrees or less so it willstart consistanly means less power and torque.
i kinda figured that much . dont want to put the duraspark back in due to it randomly adding timing at 3500+rpm anyone running that crane dist or a mallory setup reason i ask is casue i can get them 30% off at work but not msd stuff.
