tfs cam questions

so i just got a brand new tfs stage 1 cam from summit, just checking things out and i notice a couple "issues".

1.) my old tfs cam looked to billet steel, this one is obviously cast. when did this change? is it going to make a difference?

2.) the box and cam card both have TFS-51402000 as the part #, which is what it should be, but the cam itself appears to be stamped TFS-51402001, which looks to be a stage 2 correct? is there an easy way to check? i was going to degree the thing anyway, but forgot to grab my indicator from work, and cant get it till monday.

3.) ill be running gt40p's for now (actually just grabbed a whole explorer motor instead of messing with destroyed stuff), and bought the tfs spring kit with the cam. assuming it IS the stage 2 like it says it is, would it still work with this combo?

TFS-51402001 is the Stage II cam, degreeing it will tell you right away.

The old TFS cams were ground by CRANE on a CRANE core (which wasn't billet), the new ones are ground by another manufacture on a different core, it will be fine.

The Stage II cam is a little big for that combo and you'll have to clay it to make sure it fits, it may not. Shoot for min of .060" intake and .080" exhaust, PTV if you decide to use it. Id return it for a Stage 1....

crane is the one that went out of buisness isnt it? i bought my old one ~ 2years ago, so that kinda explains that i guess.

it just concerns me because the ends arent finished at all it seems, its not the straight casting finish thats in the lobe "valleys, but it is very rough, and makes reading the stamping a pita, but it sure as hell looks like the stage 2 part number to me. i really have no desire to mess around with ptv, so i guess i'll give summit a call in the morning. was hoping to have this thing running again by thanksgiving, looks like thats getting a bit sketchy.
