Bought my 86 GT from my buddy and every tranny seal on the AOD was leaking. Had it rebuilt will all the bells and whistles I could think of. (Not cheap) Builder did something wrong and the tranny blew at exactly 500 miles. No warranty cuz I supplied the parts. Got pissed and did a 5sp swap with upgraded T-5. Life was good until at mile 499 I shifted into 3rd at 5k and blew it to bits. I just hit 504 on the Tremec TKO 600 and she's running sweet as hell. I just had to share my victory with you all. :SNSign:

How do you like the tko 600?
I just bought one and have been hearing mixed reviews.

Also how long did you break it in for?

thanks Luke

I'm thinking about a TKO 600 when I finish my stroker. How do you like it? How's the gearing?

Well they say 500 mile break in which is basically what I did, with the exceptional moment of overwhelming need to have a little fun. I love it so far. It was pretty stiff shifting when I first got it running, but it will definitely loosen up. Mine started really feeling good and smooth easy shifting around 400 miles. I need a better shifter but other than that it's great. Right now I'm using the stock shifter that came in it with a Steeda Tri-ax handle. MGW just came out with new ones for the 600. I want one, but I have no cash at the moment.

*edit: I love the gearing. Especilly first and 5th. I can be cruising at 60-65 and only turning 1900 rpms.

What gear are you running in the rear end? I'd like to get decent highway mileage. I thought about a 355 or even a 373.

yep 3.73's. I'll roll with you sometime beast, but my car's not a looker. She needs some sweet lovin that my wallet just can't provide at the moment. It's sucks having two cars that I want to mod. I'm always torn between the two. Even though I know I really don't need that nitrous kit on my DD.
