I picked my car up from the shp today after 2 1/2 weeks, and all I can say is WOW! As you may or may not remember it never ran right after the H/C/I swap so after about a month of tinkering with it I broke don and took it to the shop.
The thing runs great now and just screams above 3500, I'm really happy with the performance!

The shop bill ending up being $757 (ouch!) - $390 in parts and $320 in labor plus tax. The first thing was I needed longer pushrods (6.400") and those took about a week and a half b/c summit sent the wrong ones once. After the new pushrods, I needed longer head studs. Then my studs wouldn't clear the Valve covers, so I need a new set of those. Then I needed a 1" intake spacer and a modified oil fill neck to clear the VC's. And the voltage regulator on my alternator was busted. It was a reasonable amount of money for what he did. Only thing now is that the car won't idle, it'll just die unless I give it gas. WOT it runs like a beast! He didn't really fix adress a problem except for the pushrods, so I'm not sure what my original problem was.

I think my next step will be to get a chip burned. This guy recommended I take it to a dyno a get a chip burned with the car there, but the closest place that will do that to me is in Kansas City, about 185 miles away. So i may go with a mail order chip - Superchips (maybe?).

Sorry about the long post, its just so great to have my car back and running great.

Great to hear man, I know you were having lots of trouble with your car. I was actually going to PM you to see how the progress on it was going. I am sure that once you get a new chip or a Tweecer, your idle will be butter. Also, I wasn't aware a 1" intake spacer would allow enough room with the stock hood. Better change your sig now! :nice:

nmcgrawj - yeah I bought new 6.250" pushrods from Ed C along with the other things, If I had it to do again, I would check the pushrods length with everything else on before I ordered my pushrods. Is there anyway to verify pushrod length without all the stuff on the car?

Jake - I want to get to the dyno soon, I'd really like to do it both before and after getting a chip, or I am also contemplating driving up to Kansas City to ge a chip burned on the Dyno up there. I've never run my car on the 1/4, but that will happen after I can afford to buy some new nitto RII's, b/c I mostly run SCCA auto-x type stuff. But bofore I get out to any scca stuff, I need to find out a solution to my STB, which needless to say will not clear the 1" spacer. I think I may get no EGR setting if I get the chip burned, and then take my EGR off and throw a 3/8" spacer on, which I can use my STB with.

Swingline - The 1" SPACER fit under my stock hood, but its incredibly close. I have my hood liner removed, theres no way it would clear with it still on. Its probably something that's so close its just going to depend on the particular car on whether it clears or not.
