I just finished washing my Explorer and it always has some terrible brake dust caked to the wheels. I tried the Turtle Wax Platinum Wheel Cleaner and that stuff is great. The dust that wouldn't come off with hardcore scrubbing just melted away when I sprayed this cleaner on it. Everyone should get some.:nice:

I have always liked mothers alum./mag rim polish. It takes some elbow workin' every now and then but a quick going over in the middle of that works fine. I am hoping to get a mothers "buff ball" for xmas so maybe it will be easier with that.

A trick my buddy used to use for the winter with his chrome stealies was to goober them up with vasaline(sp?) in the winter to "seal" them off from snow/salt and it also helped keep dust from messing them up in the winter months. It would wash off with a good scrub and spray in the spring...may help out atleast dur. the winter

hhmm

I've got a bottle of that Turtle Wax Platinum wheel cleaner right now that I hate using. I don't know why, but every time i use it, even after super thorough high-pressure rinsing, it seems to leave-behind a sort of white residue thats a real BITCH to rub-off. Yes, it does clean the brake dust well, but I stoped using it because I couldn't stand having to scrub the wheels to get rid of the white crap.
I've used several brands, and my favorite is the Meguire's wheel cleaner :nice: :nice:

I use Meguiers wheel and tire cleaner, but I would also suggest Mothers... Both excellent products.

I've also heard people have good luck with Eagle One wheel cleaner [I never used any of their other stuff] and they swear by it.

If you're having a real problem keeping them clean see if you can find "Busch" rim cleaner, that stuff will eat through anything, so be careful.

i used to do the grease trick to my blazer back when i had it for the winters it works sooo good... as far as the wheel cleaner i just bought the real expensive brake pads that dont leave brake dust...i love them in fact my rear wheels on my 93 (drums) get more brake dust on them than the front.

havent done no brakes to the 94 yet but i will do the same all the way around on that.
