polk county florida
Where do I start?
The beginning of the end, the drag strip and oval track in Bradenton Florida is being attacked by urban sprawl, the Manatee County has approved a housing development for 4500 homes right next to the motorsports complex property. I'm talking mear yards from the actual racing surface, even though the commission's statement that the tracks ability to operate must be guaranteed for the future we all know what will happen.
The land next to the track is zoned agricultural and is a buffer between the track and the 'urban sprawl boundary line', the boundary line that the county put in place to limit developers from gobbling up inexpensive agricultural land and building on it. Now a developer has bought the land and wants to change the 'land use' designation so they can do what the commissioners voted to stop years ago, the county knows the developers have more money and better lawyers than the county and I'm sure there is/was some 'back door politics ' involved to get this passed.
Now Cleetus McFarland (not his real name) of The Freedom Factory and utuber along with the owner of the drag strip did their best to rally the troops and, according to the video that was posted, had a strong showing at the meetings including a large write in/email contingent, but knew they were fighting a losing battle.

We all know what will happen despite what the commissioners say,
The bell has rung.
I was not aware of this till this morning but I've known it would eventually come around when developers started building 'the lakewood ranches'.

Airports, shooting ranges and race tracks all have the same problem. Even thought they've been in place for decades, were popular and used often, and people knew it was there before moving in... they still get shut down. It really sucks. :(

9000 more cars everyday.. LOL... Can hardly merge onto the Tamiani road now....
Mayor of Holmes beach tried to put a stop to a new bridge to the Santa Maria island area... She said there are 10 times too many cars now than there are parking spots?? But what does common sense have to do with Commissioners lining their pockets??
Isn't this the same area where the people voted in an INCREASE in sales tax because it was promised " to fix the traffic congestion?" LOL And people voted for it....... Suckers.......

I feel bad for Victor & bradenton, Cletus not so much but he's all ready made a killing off that circle track and his business.
I was not a fan of Cleetus either but he took a dead circle track and made it work.
The business of utube ain't no joke anymore, some of the people on there are though.
The developers buy property and can afford to sit on it till they can push through what they want to do (mostly make money) and it will not matter what the people surrounding want or the lack of infrastructure because they know if they are turned down the local government does not have the money to defend the people's wishes even though they were elected to 'serve the people'.
The asset recovery industry has the same problem, big money operating illegally in the state of Fl. knowing the state government will not spend the money to stop them.
And before the 'business of lining the pockets ' of government officials starts remember that lobbying is legal in governmental circles but in business it's called a conspiracy.

Yeah, copart tired it with atco here in nj, only reason it got shut down was EPA related and being the pine barrens, worried a wrecked auto storage facility would mess with the water tables but it would have passed otherwise.... Kicker is the owner who bought if from the sway family when the the lawsuit kind of forced the sale turned down plenty of fair offers for the track, even some NFL players looking to buy in on it. They just wanted the crazy price copart was offering. land use like that in NJ is going to be crazy expensive for epa and zoning reasons, developers like cheap farm land so its safe for now, how ever developers are buying up tons of land here for warehouses these days. I didn't look into it but when was the adjacent land offered for sale last. Farms are like race tracks. The owners kids would rather have the quick pay day selling it off and developers love cheap land..

I'll have to look to see when it was sold last time, the land looks to be boxed in by a golf course, the thing is they are moving the 'urban sprawl' boundary line. So in effect, the boundary line designation is useless.
