The spoiler: to delete or not to delete, that is the question

How many of you guys have deleted your spoilers? I didn't opt for it when I ordered my car, but know that it has been put on hold indefinately I've been thinking about getting it deleted. I think it cleanes up the lines and the regular spoiler just looks like an ill-advised afterthought. Does it actually perform any function (downforce/high speed stability) or is it 100% looks as I suspect? If anyone has a pic of their GT (preferably black) w/ the delete option posts it, I would be much obliged.

I got the delete also. I agree that it looks much cleaner without it, and that it looks like a complete afterthought. If you decide you want one later, it is much easier to add a spoiler of your choice, then to remove one and deal with the holes. Just my $0.02, take them for what they are worth.

It all depends on the look you want. If you want the clean look, get the spoiler delete. If you don't like the looks of the stock spoiler, but want to add an aftermarket spoiler down the road, get the stock spoiler. It doesn’t cost any more, but most aftermarket spoilers, even ducktails, use the stock holes.

Well, I deleted it today, not sure if I'll regret it or not but whats done is done. Tmack, I was thinkin about putting on a ducktail later on down the road, they can just drill the holes right?

Oh yes, it just saves you a step by having the holes already there.

the spoiler is NO CHARGE, so why not get it? SOME of the ducktails do use the factory holes, but some do not. the CDC ducktail does not use the factory holes, but the cervinis ducktail DOES us the factory holes. you have to shop around and get a little product knowledge before ordering, so you know what you are getting. i personally like the cervinis ducktail, and i have the factory spoiler. so for me this one is a plus. if i found one better, it would not be a big deal for me either way, i am an ASE master collision/refinishing tech, so i do the work myself.

for all the people out there who plan to order their cars:

it would be best to look into all the aftermarket parts available before ordering. if you find parts that you want to install on your mustang, you can plan ahead and option your car accordingly. if you know you want an aftermarket stereo, why buy the shaker1000? you wouldnt. so if you want a ducktail that does not cover the factory holes, dont order a spoiler!!

I am sure that the spoiler was the $295 option and with a stripe also.
I originaly did not want one but it has grown on me and now i'm glad I did get one.

There is a black 06 GT on ebay now without a spoiler if you wanna get an idea what it looks like

I wanted my car to have the '65 Shelby look, so I optioned spoiler delete. Everyone that has seen my car says it looks so much better without the spoiler. I personally don't care for the look of the factory spoiler, but it's strictly a personal decision on what you like and don't like. I highly doubt that it performs any real function. It's strictly cosmetic.

I like the Ford spoiler and thnk the car looks too plain without it. My opinion.

only at high speed / otherwise it serves no function and its just wasting gas and sitting there looking like a piece of "RICE"

at how high of speeds? I have been known to do some stupid ***** . I don't want my butt end getting light and squirrely on me at high speeds.

I plan on buying the GT vert next year, and I can't decide either.
It looks cleaner without the spoiler, but the back end looks a little small without it (particularly on the vert, which does not have the strong roofline of the coupe).

Do you really think that Ford spent time in the wind tunnel designing the spoiler to provide downforce at speed?

It's strictly eye candy.
