other than the system that comes with the car, is anyone doing anything extra such as Lojack to keep their cars safe?

Im gonna upgrade my alarm to a Viper 5000 pretty soon, then i was thinking of getting a Ravelco anti-theft system installed, ugly but it should go under the dash and be out of the way, plus its supposed to be the best anti-theft deterrent on the market now. Depends on if i trade in for an 07 Shelby at that point ill definetely do both.

LoJack will pinpoint your car and police will eventually get around to tracking it. But, thiefs only need a few minutes to strip your car. I would rather have something that helps to prevent it from being stolen, rather than something that helps find it after it is gone.

Yeah, but Lojack offers an instant alert option (for more $$ of course), that lets you know the minute your car alarm goes off via some sort of remote...cell phone probably. The less expensive version of Lojack is where you just call the police after you find out your car's been stolen, then they activate the thingy and track down your car.

Autopage, and others, make a 2 way remote alarm which alerts you similar to a pager up to a mile away if the alarm goes off. Has silent mode if you just want the pager to alert you and the siren stays silent (good for sneaking up on the bastiches).

This model includes remote start, keyless entry, alarm.
Takes a good half day and moderate wiring knowledge to do it right.

Protection?

I have a CZ-75BD and a Springfield XD40. They both would work pretty well and are compatible with the Mustang.

Yeah, that's the only downside to that system. Otherwise, it works pretty well.
