I am upgrading the ignition on my 66 6cly 200 to electronic but there are two choices for the Petronix Ignitor. It depends on whether I have a thermactor on the engine or not. I have no idea how to tell - help?

I don't know why it would matter but the thermactor pump is located on the alternator side. It will either be above or below the alternator and have a belt running to it. I didn't think any 66 cars had them but maybe in California.

It is the smog pump and I doubt it would have one in that year.

the thermactor is a large belt-driven pump for your emission control equipment. On my 289 it's on the upper right side of the engine. You can't miss it.

Eh, On my 66 289 it was above the alternator on the passengers side, I'm pretty sure that most if not all california cars were equipped with them
