Thermo gasket

I've got a leak coming from what looks like my thermo housing, so I'm going to replace it, but...

I took off the upper rad hose and the thermo housing is full of coolant. Everytime I've every done this it has been close to empty. What's up?

I don't think it's anything out of the normal.

Maybe the thermostat was stuck open for a split second allowing more that usual in right before you turned it off?

i think there was "quite a bit" of coolant in there when everything came apart for my manifold install...idk how much your seeing but i would imagine its nothing really out of the ordinary....
