Hi i am going to go look at a fox body mustang on monday and i was wondering if there are any specific "problem" areas i should look at on a fox body its an 1988 GT 5.0 5 speed so i was just wondering there there where any common problems to look for that seem to affect mustangs, i do know that the one im going to look at needs a new clutch and starter solenoid but its a really good price, thanks in advance!

Check the strut towers in the engine bay. That's the area where the k-member mounts. Very prone to rust. Also, check the driver and passenger footwells from under the car. That is where the floor pans meet the firewall. Decades of wet shoes take their toll on that area. Mine were rusted all the way through.

fenderwells, floor pans, strut towers, look at the front of the car from a distance to see if its twisted. Very easy for these cars to do so. and if it has a sunroof look at the area where the weather stripping is..they rust there.
