THink I will go with these tires. What do you think?

So far it is the best price and they seem to be a decent tire. My buddy is giving me a good discount, and they are madeby goodyear so I figure I will try them out. Anyone ever run these tires before?

Those are just passenger tires really. They are not meant for a sports car. I dont care if they call it a performance tire or not, it isnt even speed rated. I put some cheap cordovan, non-speed rated tires on my stang and they are still in the shed, like new. I pulled them off after a month, and they were only on the back for a day. The car handled terribly. www.tirerack.com and www.discounttiredirect are good places to look. They have good prices and shipping is very resonable. Look at the Khumos (sp?) they are a decent performance tire, and they are very cheap. Thats what I will prolly buy next. I have Nitto 450's right now.

Yea....their site shows the same ones in Z rated, Those say TR instead of ZR.

My V rated tires are just fine. Z rated or W rated is still a bunch of hooey...who here goes over 160 miles an hour??? Still, you get what you pay for, but you shouldnt skip over a tire because it isnt Z rated.

Probally not a bad tire, but I don't know. I have Kumho's up front and Nitto's on the back. They couldn't be worse than Futura's.

I wouldn't trust a cheapo tire. Save $25 on tires, spend $2500 on a new front end.

I picked up a set of Fulda Extremo's ($100 each) and they hook like a set of ET streets on the '93.

IMHO if you nail it on the street , it doesn't spin and the tire marks are white it's a good tire because it's pulling the asphault off the stone on the road surface. My ET's and these do. The Cooper cobras I had ($200 each) didn't.

I can get into a set of Nitto NT 450's for about 140 more. but shipping is the thing. By the time they arrive and all that jazz. My pony rims were dropped off tonight to be re painted, I will have them back on Tues or Wed of next week. I still have time to make a change but so far my buddy can't bring in BFG, and the Nittos have to be ordered.

I mean for 525 taxes in balanced and installed, road hazard etc Canadian funds if I don;t like them I can sell them off and try something else I guess.

Tirerack has Kumho Ecsta 711's in H-rated for $55 right now, and V-rated for $66. H goes up to 130 mph, and V is 149 mph. These wouldn't be bad-handling tires, I bet....anyone here run H or V-rated tires and like 'em?

The speed rating of tires isn't just for the speed. The higher the speed rating the softer the rubber is also. BUT they will also wear out WAY quicker than other tires. So if you want a tire that will last, get an H or V rated. If you want ultimate traction (non drag radial) get a Z rated and be prepared to buy tires more often.

I have the Kumho ECSTA Supra 712's.. they seem pretty decent.. I bought my 275/40/17's for 110 each.. smaller sizes are cheaper..

I thought there was a separate "wear rating" code to indicate that.

There is, but Z rated tires are always rated very low.....because of the tread softness......and H and V tires are rated higher.

Seeing that this thread is on tires, what is the biggest size i can get for my Ponies? Right now i have 245/50/16 all around but i want some meats out back.

245/50/16 on 16x7 pony wheels is bad enough as it is. I would not go bigger than that. But I would say the biggest you could go is 255/50/16.....although some brands are bigger than others
