Is it worth it..?? What are the gains like with a CAI and tune .?? Anyone done them yet on our cars ...?? 695$ w/ springs is a pretty good deal I couldnt pass it up !

i believe cams are good for 30-40rear wheel horsepower, i think the labor is pretty detailed and intense which done by a shop can be pricey.
When I talked with Seth from Brenspeed, he said their NSR (No Springs Required) cams are very comparable to any of the other cams on the market. You might gain a little more with other cams, but the extra $1000 for install is just not worth it.
They would do the install of the NSR cams for just over $300 I believe, keeping it under $1000 for the cams and install. The Comp Cam 3's would've been about $1400 for install. They actually drop the engine to install those.
Ya the NSRs were the ones I was looking at.. are they worth the cost.? I live in Cali and my boy said if I get the those I still could pass smog !

Darkfire I trust your opinon very much on these forums so I went ahead and ordered them, along with 3:90's
Hopfully once I get some freaking awesome weather I can do my install for the new Pulleys, CAI and tune, cams, and 3:90's .. im looking to break around 340+ I already have full SLP Xpipe and catback and BBK shorties on there... I want go fast mods DONE !
P.S I have an Auto so my numbers will be lower of course ! DAMN COMMUTING !!!!!

I've looked around a lot at cams as well and the NSR cams from brenspeed are the only ones I'd be interested in because of the huge difference in parts and labor.
I plan on doing the CMDP's some time in the future and will consider the cams at the same time along with another custome dyno tune.
I'm just waiting around for a few more test mules to provide more real world data.
I would be disappointed to end up with a 10 hp gain from this mod even though they are much cheaper than doing cams/springs, and that's why I hesitate.
Too bad whyask is installing everything at once.

blacksheep the cams will be the first going in, I to want to see the results so i can save others money if they do not work. once there in I will post dyno runs and install as well ! then after that we will see if the supporting mods i.e. CAI, tune, pulleys will make more power with the cams or just bring in what they advertise !

I'm going to be very interested to hear some sound clips when you get them installed. I've been toying with the idea in the back of my head (just can't decide if I really want to lose the warranty or pass on a s/c), and given that we run fairly similar exhaust setups...... Anyways, keep us updated!

The idle is slightly rougher than stock, but it's not something you can pick up on camera. Not without professional equipment, anyway. Without changing your springs, you're not going to get the real lopey, rough idle.
