Thinking about nitrous?

It will be a bit in the future but I was thinking about an nitrous kit. Mainly the NOS Big shot plate kit w/ the edelbrock style plate. I was planning on getting a jacobs nitrous mastermind (has timing retard, adjustable window switch, and changable proportioning of nitrous flow depending on rpm) also and an inline fuel pump. Since that is a wet kit would my 24 lb/hrs be ok with that? Dont feel like getting new injectors and MAF as I would probably have to do with a dry kit. ALso, I plan on running the kit at the 150 hp level and no more, but do you think this may still affect the life of my new longblock? Also, I have a 10.8 to 1 compression ratio, do you think I could get by on pump gas (I plan on retarding timing with the Mastermind when I do spray) or am I going to have to use race gas? Please post any ideas or suggestions that you may have. If I am forgetting about something let me know. Also, if you have any other alternatives to this setup please let me know. This is just what I think would be a good, safe setup according to the research I did. But I could be wrong...so let me know if I am! Thanks in advance guyz.

I assume that you have good components in the 331's bottom end so the only thing that will limit you is the block if it is still stock. That kit is an excellent kit and makes loads of torque. You should be ok with the 24# injectors but make sure you have a good fuel pump or use a in-line one. The compression is not as important of a factor in a nitrous motor because it reacts differently than boost. Nitrous motors actually love a little more compression. I ran it on my car for a couple years and have thought about a new kit for the new motor and was looking at the exact same kit that you are but I was going to run a 200 shot on it.

Yea production block with stud DSS stud girdle. Cast steel crank, forged I-beam rods and DSS custom forged pistons w/ full floating pins. I think 150 shot would be ok and if I spray progressively I think I might be able to pull an 11 sec pass on drag radials. And yea I was planning on a nice big inline fuel pump. But do you think I could run ok on pump gas w/ a good amount of timing retard?

Dude... Ill still leave you in the dust... so it doesnt matter what you do.. lol.. j/k man. I may be able to get a discount if you get me a part number. I am tight with a nos distributor for motorcycles... he got me my kit with a discount... so im sure it doesnt matter if its for a car/bike.I'd also get a regular wet kit. You can run pump gas with a 150 shot.. I know that for sure because my camaro was similar compression and i ran more nitrous than you will even think of running man

but remember what your crank and hyper-craptastic pistons looked like when you tool it all apart.... :nonono: :rlaugh:

Dude... that was engine combo #1. I rebuilt it again... remember? Diitched the hyper-craptastic and got forged. Mine weren't as bad as your N/A motor piston was though. :D
