hmmm, dont get married. thats what everyone tells me.

it depends on what you use it for. if you have a bunch of buddies that have stangs and that is your excuse for hanging out then hell no!

Dude I'll be getting married in the summer of '07. The thought has never came up. Also remember this, finances are one of the number one reason for divorce in the first two years of marriage. If you do get rid of the car you will regret it and may even hold it against your girl for having to sell the car. Just thought I'd thorw that info at ya.

You have to look into the fact that selling the mustang, really won't save you any money at all. So you sell it to buy some piece of crap since you certainly won't get enough to buy a new car with a warranty. What good will that do you.

I was so close to selling my car a few times when tuition came up. I found ways.

Also I agree that selling your car can be one of those things where subconsciously, you may hold it against her at some point. Damnit woman I sold my car for you!

My wife would never let me sell my stang, though the topic came up a couple times by me. Been married 8+ years now and the car has been paid off for 4 years.

I love having the stang and glad I didn't sell it. My wife loves telling people that it's paid for and that she helps with some of the maintenance/upgrades. She is pretty thrilled to help out with stuff on the car, cause she knows whatever I'm doing is making the car better, safer, and/or more enjoyable.

Don't sweat it. Keep the cobra and you fiance.

I am recently married and motorsports are a big part of my life. I have built a couple bikes, a 88 camaro, a 92 chevy half ton and have a 95 V6 stang with a blown motor. I have gone back and forth with myself on wether I should begin working on another project car.
Even with being a newly wed with a 2 year old and a 7 year old my wife understands that the cars and toys were a part of my life before we got married and that they are a very important part of my life. Bottom line she told me that she wants me to get the car and have fun but to do it in a way that it doesnt create a huge financial burden (i.e. don't buy a car with hefty payments and spend a fortune on it) So she is pushing me to get an older mustang or whatever car I want outright and spend money on it. Plus she is mad at me for even thinking of giving up my hobby and has said that in addition to the stang we will be getting a fusion to act as a family sedan in addition to our '05 explorer.
If your woman understands what the car means to you and you are willing to comprimise with how you handle it then you should be able to find a way to make it work. Otherwise, take a serious look at what you are getting into.

Then again, I have a really good wife. She sat next to me for 5 hours while I received a huge tattoo that filles the entire inside of my calf while we were on our honeymoon and even took pictures of the process.

Damn - the more I think about it - I'm pretty friggin lucky!!!

Just got married last may, also grad. college that same, yes the same day, day. We had bought our first home/starter home 3 or so months earlier.

Dont go all insane and think you have to sell your toys, now if you cannot pay your bills or it is not paid for and you have like 3 kids you might want to sell it if its your only car...then again...that should have become a point sometime around child #2.

Mine was paid for and there realy is no "need" to sell it. I dont realy ever plan on selling it, the wife will not even go there she likes riding in it. Just the other day she was saying how I realy need to get it back together/lic. to drive around in this spring/summer and that she missed riding in "her".

1st off heres the larger pic of the avatar, her name is keeley hazell. Thanks for the input sorry took so long to reply, Yeah the car is paid for. I sat down and crunched the numbers and it would just be cheaper to reinstate the full coverage insurance and use it as the daily driver for now. I really hate to drive it right now on the north coast(SALT) but oh well i'll just have to keep it flushed out once a week or something. Thanks again guys.

Don't sell it.

I sold my '95 (white with saddle leather) and it is something I kick myself for to this day. My '04 is great, but I miss the Cobra almost every time I get in my current sn95 car.

We get along fine (I'm married and have an 18 month old son) with an Escape and my current '04 GT, so I say keep your car, man.
