I love my car and one day will have an 03-04 Cobra and a clean 5.0 notch but I think I want to try a Vette out . I have my eye on either a C5 Zo6, C6 or 3V Saleen or Roush cars. Don't get me wrong if I find a killer deal on a Terminator that might seal the deal but I might go with a bow tie lol. I want something more refined and handles well. Share your thoughs? Good or bad?

An 03-04 car would be in the same price range/lower then some of the options. GO with what you want.

I suggest if you have not driven one, that you go drive a corvette. They are a very different feel compared to the stang (not saying thats bad) but you might not like the way they drive. They have an interesting driving position and they are very wide. If more refinement is your quest, rather then buying a used vett, I would look at a used or new 5.0 stang. Cheaper to maintain, and has cheaper insurance too. I saw a brand new 5.0 with the 6 speed at my local dealer for 28k, which is close to vett money except you are not getting a 10 to 8 year old car. But if you really have your heart set on a vett, by all means go for it. I myself am debating on picking up a Z06 too, just undecided whether I go for a c5 with the ls6 or the c6 with the ls7.

P.S. with the MM grip box or Griggs racing package, your current car could keep up with a vett with a driver mod.

slayerripkdc, I always been a fan of the Vette and I too am debating on getting one towards the end of Summer. Trying to decide between a Coyote, a Challenger, a Camaro SS and a used Vette. To me they all have something I like and dislike equally so there's really no clear cut winner. Only thing is I wouldn't want a Vette as a daily driver. And I surely wouldn't trade one of my cars to get a new one...maybe a trade plus some cash but not a trade-in. What's your planned use for the car? If you're gonna DD it then a Vette might be expensive to maintain and insure...like midnightdriver mentioned. Even still tho, I guess it would be pretty sweet to walk up to a Vette in a parking lot and know it's yours!!

All those cars are badd a$$! The car would not be a daily driver. Just for the weekend and maybe 6k miles per year. I really love the C6 body style! They handle great. They come with 400 ponies stock. They are very refined and even a 2005 C6 will feel like a 2012 car. I would keep it relatively stock. Might lower it on stock bolts and Borla exhaust and call it a day. I love that you can lower them on stock suspension!

ahh I have been contemplating that for the last two years! These cars really do wake up with a little boost but face it... In order to keep up or beat all these newer cars you need to build the bottom end and run more than 9lbs of boost these days. Don't get me wrong I still might go this route Thinking about a Vortech V1. I love the sound of that blower at idle!

Well that's not necessarily true. My 465rwhp stock lower end car has been beating everything from lambos to vette's out here in CA for years. This car is not that far behind my 525rwhp 408ci vette. You can definately build your car to beat 98% of cars you encounter on standard basis if you do it properly. PLUS, with this much hp its really kinda dangerous to explore the limits on the street anyways. You really only need 350-400hp on the street to have a really good time, and if racing new cars is your thing that hp limit with a good driver works really well. More than that and you can start encountering too many traction issues and such. Plus at that level you can make your tranny last for a little while too

I hear ya! btw you had a 2 or 3 stage nitrous C5 back in the day correct? I understand that there will always be some one faster than you and I accept that but in Westchester NY it seems like all the imports have over 500 to the wheels sti's, evos civic hatches and all the bigger motor cars are at the 800+ hp range even over 1000! I remember 10 years ago when 400hp was consider a fast street car. Most likely I am still going to build the little 2v. I am saving for a house so I really do not need but "want" a newer car. You live in CA so you understand the prices on houses are INSANE both in CA and NY. Thinking about going with a Meth Vortech V1. You seem to make decent power with the patriots.

Ya...that's my vette...that number i quoted was na, about 1000 with the nos. (2 stage)

And yes, I"m very happy with my patriots, I've had them for years now. I'm just happy with the car altogether. I just wish I would have modded in a different order. I did the heads/ cams mod before the blower, which was a mistake. My car was also originally an auto. I did the T56 after all the power mods had been done. If I had it to do over again I would have done Blower (w/meth 13-15lbs on the blower), then Tranny, then suspension, then head cams. Head cams is probably the lowest bang for the buck improvement in my opinion.

whatever route you take have fun..........

PS....those vette's can be made to be one helluva car. I don't think my stang will ever handle as good or be as fast as that vette I built. But I do enjoy my mustang more/use it more. I'm a ford guy at heart and feel like it's just more practical to use. Meaning you'll just want to use it more. I know it may not be a dd but those nice little errands and things on nice days on the weekends are just easier in the stang, making it more likely you'll grab the keys and enjoy her when running around.

I too kind of want to try a C6 for my next car, but for me it would have to be a DD.

I'm worried though that a Vette would pretty much ruin ever driving any other car. It's so much lower, sleeker, wider, lighter, and refined compared to Stangs/Camaros/Challengers that I think it would be really hard to ever go back to one of those after a Vette. I think everything would be a disappointment; the Vette is the only car that has stayed small and light without getting bloated and fat.

Thoughts?
