Thinking Twice

Grady I thought you were serious for a second! The page wasn't scrolled down far enough to see the big if, lol.

He's right, even a cam with a really low LSA can be made to idle like a champ with the help of a computer chip.

just to add, i have a tfs1 cam and i have no idle problems. i have a stock cobra computer.

I'd be willing to bet a big ole fat juicy steak that if you had a GT, things would be different.

Besides ............................................

You are a Professional gear head and I'd be willing to venture your abilities are better than some you will find on these forums :D

You almost can think of drivability issues like rolling the dice.

You just don't know what the outcome is gonna be.

Just put your combo together and if things turn out to be such a hassle that you can't live with them ...... get yourself a tune.

ok. iknow this is kinda old. But i had a ?. If i do the H/C/I setup should i rebuld the bottom end to? 140'oo miles on my car.

Not really neccessary. A lot of guys over 100k on their's (myself included) that have no problems with adding a h/c/i package to their motor. I'd definitely do a compression test first though, just to see how your rings are holding up.

Guero,
The trickflow set up is worth it. I am still running stock maf and injectors, Don't get me wrong, I am getting them but even without them it is like night and day. I think with the package deal from summit 2400.oo at tops and with the other little items maybe 3 grand or so in the whole kit. JUST DON"T forget the spacer for the intake. They don't state that it is a required part.....

The rocker arms that you'll need are stud-mount, they sit higher than the stock pedestal mount rockers. For this reason you'll need taller valve covers. For this reason your intake (EGR casting) and throttle body will hit the valve covers unless you have an intake spacer between the upper and lower.

Actually I have a GT and TFS Stage 1 and no idle problems at all.

I needed the spacer because when we tightened the upper intake down the egr dug into the valve cover. That is what I get for leaving it hooked up . lol

Even if you took the EGR stuff off, the casting on the intake that the valve bolts to will still have hit it. I had to take an angle grinder and grind the tip of it off for the intake to sit flush (before I got the spacer, after the spacer I might not have needed it).
