This is my future mod list, do you approve?

I haven't done anything to my 2001GT, 5 speed and now it's about time!

I don't want to sacrifice mileage for horsepower too much, and at the same time I wanted a few new "dress up" things for the car.

Here is my list with prices. Please let me know if I am totally off the track here or if there is anything you think I left out or should buy instead of one of the parts listed. Also, if you have seen it cheaper somewhere a link is appreciated :).

Finally, I heard the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 (see pic below) are very loud. What's a good alternative?

Thank you for any feedback.

Id have to say wait on the plenum and get some 4.10s first. That will be my next mod after the prochamber goes on. And make sure you order the prochamber for the stock manifolds instead of the one for the longtube headers unless of course you are getting longtubes. Good luck, hold off on the straight shot until c2see21 fills us in on how it performs.

Definetly get the gears as one of your first mods. Then move down the list. I wouldn't really worry about the plenum right now. I would say use the money from the plenum combo and buy some VT stage 1 cams. The cams are only about $100 more then the plenum/throttle body combo. Also driveablity will not be affect with these type of cams. Just my opinion.

Ummm, but cams will hit ya when you go to have someone install them.

OK, as just about everyone else has said, ditch the CAI (it's more of a dress up than a performance thing), get gears, and you'll need a different mid pipe rather than the Pro Chamber for Long Tube (Headers). If you don't have plans for LT headers, get a mid pipe (like the pro-chamber, but one for the stock exhaust manifolds) and a catback system and scratch the plenum and TB combo for now (or scratch the wheels and tires for now) And if you get gears (and I must say again, this will be the biggest kick in the seat you're likely to see) I'd recommend the SCT or Diablo handheld programmer - this will correct the speedo and give you a few more HP (and you won't need the MILs either - it can take care of this as well). So, back to the drawing board, huh?!?! :nice: :D Enjoy!!!

You have to have gears and if you are doing the pullies might as well do the timing adjuster. They have MILS that you can plug in rather than solder. Also I wish I could find that shift knob for 34.99 the cheapest I have seen it is 44.99.

I dont think you need the MGW Shift Handle unless the Tri-ax handle is too short for you. I have a Pro 5.0 but the handle was too short so I bought an MGW and it was too tall So I got the Tri-ax handle and put it on my Pro 5.0 and its perfect.

As for the rims Im not into the first one but kind of liking the second. All you see on Mustangs are 5 spokes these days.

I have seen them on ebay for 29.99. It says oem on the auction.

Goodyear saaaaaauuuuuuuuuuuuucks. I've had my firehawks on for 4 mo and they are way better than my old eagles.
I would suggest a cat back before a plenum.
then a programmer
then maybe a plenum but not the 75mm with that mod list.
gears are always good as an early mod too. I haven't done them yet because I cant fix my speedo with my programmer because it is the older computer (98)
Pulleys won't do as much for a 4.6 as they will for a 5.0 pushrod. AFM had an article in MMFF or 5.0 that is on their website in which they modify an engine. When they put on the underdrives they got like 2-3 rwhp. Same as what they got for a drop in k&N.
If you want *bling* always start with chrome rims.

First of all thanks to all of you for the helpful tips! :D

I have compiled a new list of modules based on your suggestions. I haven't included everything suggested, as I just can't afford it yet - but I will keep it in mind (or rather on file) for later.

I want to do as much of the installation myself. I am not a pro, but I am pretty confident I can install atleast some of it. With the following list in mind, can you advise me to which I should install first based on difficulty and whether or not it makes sense in relation to the dependency on other mods. Also, which mods I would need to go to a garage to have them fine tune - if any?

"3.8L_of_Pain" suggested me buying a Diablo Predator. As it is pretty expensive, do I need it that bad? And if I do, is it straight forward, or do I "need to take a class" to use it?

"Madmatt" mentioned I should remember to get the Prochamber for the stock manifolds. I found a "MAC ProChamber 99-04 2V/4V Mustang" (see image below) on partshopper's website. Is this the right model?

Finally, to those who asked for the cheap bullit pedals... I just went in to buy them on the mustangtuning.com website, and on the order screen they suddenly asked $15 more for the "foot rest pedal", which was included on the previous screens with the sales tag of $48.99 for the entire kit; bad sales tactic which I fell for. I will look around for a good price and post it here if I find anything close to $49.
