This was last thursday. I helped my engine builder assemble it. The head cost $523 to be fixed. The engine received new bearings and the pistons received new rings.

This was saturday.

This was sunday. I installed it myself.

This was yesturday with only about 4 mile on the rebuild.

The puel pump duty cycle was at 89% with 13psi on the street. This was with twin cobra pumps, bap, two -6 outlets from the hat and a -6 line to the rail with 60lb injectors. The car is still at MDmotorspors for twin GT pumps, dual fpdm harness, and wire upgrade.

Nice death...

Sounds like you are going back right though. Wish I had the cash for a good rebuild.

I should post up the destruction of my last engine...perhaps I'll do that tonight.

I got a valve broken into 3 pieces, a spring broken in half, and a nice hole in the top of my old piston!

Unfortunately yes...I gotta take pictures of the carnage soon so the manufactuer of the failed component (valve spring) can tell me why it broke while idleing in my garage.

I had Probe pistons, Manley H beam rods, Cobra crank, block bored .035..took out part of my cylinder head (repairable) and I had to replace 2 valves, springs, and just got a new MMR 5.0 stroker.

IDONT UNDERSTAND WHY this happens to a new built engine with a good fuel setup? i mean i know it went lean but why? i wouldnt think it should go lean at 13 psi with that fuel set up.

now you have me nervous.

the returnless system is not constant voltage and that is problem 1. problem 2 the lines and rails are not made for high HP. building a 500+ 2v car means you will have to overkill the fuel system to be safe. I know I've posted about this on other threads that might even have been ones you started. the last thing you want to skimp on is the fuel. guys making big power now usually run the following:

Cobra tank with 2 GT supercar pumps
dual FPDM harness or at least a modified FPDM and BAP
at minimum 60# injectors
aftermarket fuel rails
-6 or -8 braided line from the tank forward depending on whether you run 1 or 2 lines
billet inline fuel filters and all the necessary AN fittings

what I have learned from buying most of the above is that the fuel side alone will cost as much or more than a set of ported heads if you do it right.

Damn, 4 miles on the build and your already raising hell, huh? I would have waited at least a few hundred miles before redlining it. The rings need to sit properly and other components need time to break in.....

Not really, best way to break in a motor is to beat on it (to some extent).

Sucks bout the blown motor, but good thing you've got it back on the road; congrats

Yea to some extent, but not a dyno pull lol. Just my opinion. I would break my engine in for at least a few hundred miles.

wow, that is a lot of cash for the fuel system. i realize that it is very important to have a capable fuel system, but arent there a ton of guys makin numbers in the 500 + rwhp range that are just use the basic fuel things like injectors, cobra pumps and tank, and bap??? or is that taking a risk? wouldnt you find out if you wer going lean during the tune? or is that not always 100%?

i figured with a good tune that you shouldnt have to worry about that.
