i got a B&M shift kit priced out and was considering getting one.

I've read that alot of people say not to get it but never stated why.

I'm getting it for cost and the price i got was dirt cheap. And thats why i'm thinking about it. B&M has been around for long time so i dont see why there's a problem.

i basically want firmer shifts, and be able to hold any gear and downshift when i want. will B&M give me this?

thanks for the help

I bought a b&m shift kit about 4 months ago, about a month after i got my car, and it has been the best bang for the buck mod i've done. Next of couse to the gears i have but not installed yet. The kit gives the car much firmer and harder shifts eliminating alot of slippage which is another great reason to buy one. Higher performance, better tranny life, you can't go wrong!

thanks for the reply.

i sent out a PM to a guy on Corral and heres his replys.

If I had an automatic car again, the first thing I would do would be gears and a B&M shift kit. I noticed a huge difference after I added it. I had 3.55's in it and then 3.73's, but that is besides the point. With the gears and the kit my car would chirp them into second pretty good at about 50-55 MPH. It was great. I did the street/strip kit and drilled out the holes as big as you can go as far as the specs go. It really firmed up the shifts too. I would recommend this kit to anyone with an auto. Also the B&M hammer shifter is great too. I had one of those and loved it. There is no way you can miss or overshift with this shifter. The shift kit was pretty easy to install. pretty straight forward. It had good instructions too. I wish I had a bottle jack when I did mine. If I did it again it would be a lot easier and quicker knowing what I know now. I think this was actually the first mod I did to my car. Turned out great. Let me know if you have any other questions.
