Don't worry about old codes, it ran so crappy that the computer probably didn't know what to do.
if u don't clear the codes will the car run like crapDon't worry about old codes, it ran so crappy that the computer probably didn't know what to do.
it's running the best it ever has right now it's a automatic with a shift kit and hammer shifter and it's just burning tire but I put the stock water pump pulley back on and I have a idle pulley for the smog pump 1 more question to advance timing u turn it to the passenger side and driver side to lower it correctThe computer controls all that sht.
When you set the timing and lock down the distributor, check the timing again, the slightest movement when tightening it down will change the reading, lock it down, plug in the spout and start it up an the timing appears to change, the computer adjusts the timing many times during the running cycle and will appear to be all over the place.
Clearing codes: basically the computer gets to a point where it can't deal (adjust) per info it's given and says 'fck it', I can't deal with this and you get a crappy running engine, clearing the codes takes old info out of the equation, resetting the computer erases stored info and is needed when setting are changed like the tps (other things too).
This is all covered in the 'surging idle checklist'.
book will be here tomorrow but cars running good so I'm happy and yes I have the timing right thenYou get that book yet?
The distributor is turned clockwise or counter clockwise.
Clockwise advances timing. Counter clockwise retards timing
not touch a thing ever again lol my wife hates the car it does need axles but idk if I'm ready for that I have a fuel pump and upper and lower rear control arms and the 410 gears somedaySo what's next?
yes I'm learning I wish I got one in my 20s when I got my first brand new car I could have got a mustang but went with a sport compact cause when I got out of high school in 2000 that was the thingMake a plan.
book is here only issue is a rough idle at cold startSo what's next?
ok question with the smog gone can I cap the white and black line going into the black connector or coming out top and what to do with this white piece at the bottom sending a pictureThe computer controls all that sht.
