so...my car finally came in after waiting over 3 months. went to the dealership to check it out this morning (saturday 08/12). I got a GT coupe premium with GT appearance package. by tthe way, for all of you who are bashing the hood scoops, the pics don't do it justice. the scoops look pretty hot in person, though I must admit I like the cobra hood better. we're working out the financing and insurance stuff so I can take it on monday. (FINALLY!)

ANYWAY...
what do you all think about the flim flam practice of offering alarms, lojack and paint/interior protection packages. did anyone get these options and how do you feel about them?

I am most disturbed by "needing" to take my brand new car with brand new paint and have it treated with teflon. shouldn't the paint be sufficient as-is?
sounds like a bunch of BS to me, but maybe I'm wrong.

It's extra profit for the dealer and really nothing for you except a greater cost. Avoid.

These days, I'd consider a Low-Jack for any new car.

Other than that... just hold your cross up to the salesman and watch the blood sucker cower in fear.

lo jack

I had lojack on one of my cars about 10 years ago after hearing it advertised relentlessly on howard stern's show. I got a tiny discount on insurance, but by the time I had the car paid off, it was a POS and I was praying someone would steal it, then i remembered about lojack and if someone did take it, the cops would bring my POS back to me as more of a POS since car thieves usually beat on cars.

Lo Jack works.....

Dateline NBC did a piece on car theft. They told a story about a woman in Florida who had her Honda stolen TEN TIMES! It as equipped with Lo Jack, and each time it was found undamaged within an hour after being stolen. At the end of the piece, they had an update: the Honda had been stolen for the ELEVENTH time: the thieves were found in the car and they were immediately arrested.
