according to the mechanic. I just got the call this morning. How serious is it? It's a good thing it's under warranty. What other damage can this cause to other parts of the engine? Will my valves be ok?

'98 GT 5spd ~61,xxx miles. 100% stock.

The oil supply to a lash adjuster may have become clogged allowing it to bleed down or the rocker could have just given up the ghost. However, I just don't see this happening. Last time I had rockers fall off is when I had PTV contact. . .but that was 4 valves at once and they didn't just fall off, they cracked in two and made my intake valves look like wiggle worms.

Had that happen twice to my car and it bent a valve on the way out the one time.

There are no rocker arms on a 4.6 motor as it is not a push rod motor. You need to talk to that particular mechanic's boss because he obviously doesn't know what he's talking about.

well, technially there isn't a "rocker arm", however I have and know people who do as well refer to the follower/ lifter as a rocker arm. They also call the lash adjuster a lifter. . .errrrr

Hmm, that's funny seeing most people refer to it as that. This isn't even the point of the thread, you and everyone else on here knows what he means so just let it go and quit hijacking the thread with nonsense. The 4.6 "cam followers" do the exact same thing as the pushrod rocker arms.
