So when i was desperate to finish my 4 cyl to 5.0 swap at my old house (i had to move and i was on one of the last days at the house) i was in a hurry to get the thing started so i just used rtv between the intake and the egr delete plate. I had a 65 mm BBk TB and for some dumb reason I didn't think about buying a gasket for an explorer and just RTV'd it. Now i want to replace it with a real gasket and i'm having trouble removing this thing. I don't want to break it.

Things i've tried:
Prying and taping around egr plate (minimal)
heating with a heat gun and then tap/pry

So i'm kinda stuck here. I'm thinking about throwing the whole intake in the oven but i'm having my doubts it'll work since the engine gets just as hot.

Any ideas?

My buddy went through the same thing almost. He heated the metal around the intake with a torch and got it really hot and pried it apart.

heated up the sealant enough for that to work

he put a piece of metal down ontop of the intake/egr and hit that with the torch so he wouldnt burn the intake. just enough for the material to loosen up

DISCLAIMER: he had the intake off the engine. I would not do this if you go that route with it on

I tried the razor technique. I didn't work. It looks like I'll have to heat the damn thing up. I don't have a torch but I have a heat gun. I'm gonna try the gun first if it doesn't work then I'll throw it in the oven and where oven mitts.
