I'm kind of on a budget so i'm lookin for cheap horsepower...i saw an article in MM & FF a couple years ago and i went into my collection and found it...its a budget motor they built and kept the stock throttle body and ported it..... they knife edged the plate and shaved the bar that holds it in place.....i've also looked it up and you can also shave down the inside until you get close to the plate....they ran it through something that measures the cfm's and got pretty nice improvement......also, they plugged up the egr spacer and epoxied the holes..so basically it was just a spacer...

I'm just wondering if anybody has done this and if you saw any improvement...also if you have any tips or know anything about it?

Porting throttle body? Dont waste your time, your intake opening will still be the same size.

We "ported" a Explorer TB. we really just smoothed the ridges and stuff out from the inside. We didn't touch the butterfly or anything. Whether it did any good or not we don't know since it was only one of many things we did at the time.

looks good, im actually in the process of putting the explorer TB on my 5.0. i figured why not. i have it sitting in the garage. Now one question i have for you mary, did you guys port the EGR spacer to 65mm? or just leave it? let me know because i dont know if i can port it, or if i will run into issues.

I picked up 20cfm porting a stock throttle body . . . probably only worth it if you do it yourself and have the right tools IE die grinder and sanding rolls.
