A vac leak can cause an issue. Do you see disconnected vacuum hoses (or uncapped nipples on the log)?

Have you pulled codes?

If everything looks decent, a tip from JRichker is that when a car gets a random high idle that's temporarily resolved when the car is turned off and restarted, the TPS can be at fault. Apply that info to your situation if it fits.

Be sure to include the year and mods for the best chance of finding the solution.

Good luck.
