well my car has been making a squeeking noise but i finally figurd out what ti is... it's the throw out bearing... so i took it to a mechanic and he told me i shoudl replace the entire clutch/flywheel and the throw otu bearing... nwo thats alot of friggin money... so i figured i'd bring it somewhere else... the guy drove it... but the car didn't make the noise at idle... (btw it only happens at idle and when i tap the clutch it stops) i'm guessing it didnt' make the noise bc the car wa sstill cold i had just drove it down the block to his shop.... so what he said was just to leave it alone for now

also Sal said not to drive the car hard. he pretty much warned me to get it done soon.... i've read though that the throw out bearing isn't that big of a deal...

The car has 16kMiles on it and i bought it w/ 10K miles on it... so this clutch is not old... the car was never in an accident either... i'm thinking maybe the part from Ford was faulty from the factory... i dunno

but i don't know what to do... do i blow a grand on a new clutch and flywheel? or do i jsut leave it? and is it safe to get on it or brign it to the track?

one other thing... soemtiems if i drive the car hard and press the clutch down after...it makes a noise... not grinding but sort of rubbing noise.. it's wierd... thats only if i get on the car
any suggestions?

If you can pull/install a transmission yourself, then just change the throwout bearing.

If you have to pay someone....tough call. The throwout bearing will eventually tear up the fingers of the pressure plate, but then you'd be replacing the whole clutch anyway...... Maybe just let it go if someone else does your tranny work???

I replaced mine in a weekend with just some jack stands and a set of hand tools. my buddy had the squeaking problem on his 03gt, and he just brought it to the ford dealer, and they lubed it for him, its been 3 months since they fixed it, and no problems yet.

Transshop agrees that reason why clutch blew is bad TOB. my TOB was sqweeking for sometime, but everyone here told me "oh its just annoyance, and nohing else" BS!!!!!!!!!
My TOB was completely whacked. i mean it wabbles in both axes, grinds when u spind it(now its off of car). But all it sis while it was on the car was slight chirp.
transguys tels me that due to uneven rotation of TOB caused uneven pressure on clutch plate, wear it out uneven, lost balance, accelelated the wear on TOB even more. And one day, clutch dicided it had enough, and went boooom.

my 2cent? pull trans. replace it. is it still under warrenty? i'd start bitching to Ford now

unfortunatly it's not under warrenty anymore... the car is an 00 and the guy who had it before me jsu tnever drove it... hence the low mileage... someone on Mustangworld told me to get an adjustable clutch quadrent ang it would fix the prob
