Let me have it if I am just cluttering the forum up with a repeat question, I searched a bit and could only find information on the swap using disc brakes. A local guy has a 3.55 8.8" that was gone through about 10 years ago (9k miles on it since) for a pretty decent price. It has all new hardware on it, new wheel cylinders, e brake cables, hard lines, and he says he believes it has an auburn diff in it. It has drum brakes on it already and is still 4 lug, from what I have gathered the turbo coupe setup with discs has 3/4" longer axles compared to a fox...but I believe the housings are the same size? I have a brand new 5 lug axle/drum conversion kit from LRS (fox length) already and my hope is to use these parts with this TB rear end effectively giving me the same setup as if I kept the stock rear but with 3.55's instead of my 2.73's...is my thinking totally flawed or am I on the right track here?

I beleive the thunderbird drums are 10", as opposed to the 9" drums found on the Mustang.

Not 100% sure though.

But, getting 10" drums from a ranger (with the 8.8) may be all that's needed.

Again, not 100% sure because drum brakes aren't something i've researched heavily.

I am not sure if they are even thunderbird drums or not, I wouldn't be able to reuse the drums anyways but good point I will make sure to measure them so I know if I need to get larger drums vs. the 9" ones that came with the 5 lug rear kit.
