Ticking Sound from Rear Wheel

Hello Everyone,
When rolling to a stop I've been hearing a ticking sound coming from the rear end of the car. I also recently did a 5-lug swap and replaced all of the wheel bearing etc. The sound is still there. It sounds like its ticking with each revolution of the whell. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Check for a rock or something in your tires.

Thanks for the replies. I'll have to check the U-joints. I wish it was as simple as a stone in the tires. It was doing it before and after the 5-lug swap with different wheels.... Other then U-joints anything else it could be?

Okay so it did it before you changed the wheels, tires, and axles. If it's not the u-joints it could be the axle bearings. If that's the case, all that work you did to do the swap has to be done all over again. I can't think of anything else, besides the bearings, that it could be that would cause a ticking for each revolution of the wheel. U-joints spin faster than the wheel so it would be more like 3-4 ticks per revolution.

There are a number of things that go along with upgrades that should be done just because you're there or because it's already apart. Like when you do a five lug swap you should change the axle bearings and get new ball joints in the front. If you have to pull the tranny, change the main seal while you're at it, etc. It just saves the hassel of having to take it apart again.

Thanks for the help. I did actually replace the axle bearings while I had it apart. Is there any chance it could have something to do with the brakes? It sounds kind of like its coming from the rear drivers side wheel.

On another note, I'm doing a GT40 Heads/Intake swap including(Gaskets, Headers, Thermostat, Throttlebody), are there any small things you'd recommend I replace while I have it apart?

I'm subscribing - I have the same sound coming from the right rear. Mine started after doing a 31 spline rear upgrade. It's very intermittent. I still have the drum brakes back there. How about you? I swear it's in the brakes - someday when I'm bored I'm going to tear them apart and put on new drums, shoes, etc.

I kept the drums as well and they are the only part that I didn't do any work too. I was hoping the 5-lug swap with all new bearings throughout would take care of the noise and I was surprised that it was till there after the swap.

My vote goes to u joints, my truck did this once and it was the joints.

Well, in my case, I put new u-joints on both sides of the driveshaft and I still have the noise. The brakes were the only thing I didn't touch as part of my swap too.
