Tie Rod Ends - Quality?

Found that one of mine is bad, so im going to replace both.

I'm wondering what is the difference between the $25 rod ends, and the $90 MOOG rod ends?

Is the quality really worht 3 times the cash? I'd rather replace 3 in 10 years than buy one for $100

Moog is some nice stuff. i think one can find a middle ground - online vendors offer stuff a little nicer than a parts store part, but not so $$.

but i have not tried any of the other stuff, so i cant tell ya more - just an idea for others to kick around and a free bump for ya, Mav. good luck.

what indicates that one is bad?? Is it that it is bent, because I may be in the same boat.

The tie rod end itself has gone dry and is full of dirt (below the boot).

If a tie rod/ball joint has play in it, or where it doesn't roll smoothly in it's housing, then it should be replaced.

Sounds like you answered your own question.
I replaced my ball joints with greasable Moog parts a couple years back and loved the way it helped the handling.
I plan on driving my car forever, so the extra cash was worth it for me.

we only use spicer front end parts at work and have found them to be good quality pieces.i got my 2 tie rod ends for like $40 apiece when i replaced my rack.

I prefer Moog parts. Shop around though, prices do vary.

Try www.rockauto.com for the best Moog prices I've found.

Also, Carquest sells Moog parts under their own brand (make sure it's the made in US stuff, their made overseas stuff is not Moog) -- you can check there as well.

If the car is lowered, invest a few more $$$ into a bump-steer kit instead of OEM style ends. It makes a big difference.
