If you pushed through the lights, it sounds like the power is there, just needs some tuning up!

Seriously, I would try making sure the back brakes are working, as they are all that is holding you at the line, until you get a trans brake.

The sixty foot is not bad.

Did you try manually holding the gears?

My C4 has a TCI street strip valve body, and if I leave it in drive, it will shift at 4500 or so. If I use it manually, it holds to 6000 or so. Its always done it, and I guessed it was because the governor that is in the trans came with 2.47 rear gears. I have not changed it, since it seems to shift perfectly manually.

What stall converter did you install?

I have a TCI 10 in, that stalls at 2800 to 3000. I get my best launches by not braking the car against the converter, just stage at idle and floor it to launch. Its done .004 lights and 1.88 sixty foots that way. I figured that if I brake against the converter, I have used up most of the accellerator pump travel, and it has no shot left after the launch. Obviously this only applies to carbed cars.
