Well Thursday I am leaving my car at Maako to get painted. Nice Base and clear. I will be putting on the new bumper today along with head mounting panel and fender. Time for my car to look new again. Just thought I would share that with you guys. Of course pictures will go up tuesday when I get my car back

I would ask them to put extra clear on, so that when they don't get it shiny enough, you could always wetsand and buff. But that's just me.

I'll be interested to see if you're happy with their work, I haven't heard many good things about maaco. What is the price for the whole job?

Correct. They're franchises, so the quality varies. The best you can do is look at their previous work.

My friend worked at an Econo Paint. He said they were good for the money, which I take to mean they weren't crap, but nothing extra special. He personally sprayed my friend's son's Eclipse, and it looked damn good; especially for the employee discount of $300.

I am getting the best I can pretty well get. Base and clear with wet sand and buff after. On the whole car. They are scraping it down bare and going from there and the whole thing comes out to about $1300. And the dude was realy cool. He drove a pretty sweet white sn95 gt vert and from the looks of it they do pretty good jobs there. And well he cut me a deal on parts so I got the bumper for 58, fender for 52 and head mounting panel for 28. And of course I installed them all today myself So i wouldnt get ripped for labor for them doing it. I will post a picture in a cuple of minutes

Sounds awesome.

Funny story about my friend working at the Econo paint. He said anytime he saw an old Honda with a Puerto Rican flag, or if it had some crazy looking mods(neons, chrome hubcaps, etc...) he'd take it upon himself to end the pinstriping with some crazy zig zags designs.
The awesome thing is no one complained, and everyone that got that treatment loved it!

You have 2 days to drive it around and see if that look stops people from pulling out in front of you!

Wow, $1300 is pretty cheap for the whole car.

I heard they don't tape it off or anything, and that they will hit everything with paint you don't cover up yourself. Any imput on this?

Too bad you probably don't have time to prep it yourself... I had a professional spray done for a little over $1000.

Actually like I had said the guy there was pretty kewl, and he assured me they will tape it off. I told him this is something I only want to do once. I just have to remind them to tape off my exhaust though.

Not trying to scare ya but the guy I talked to at Maaco was pretty cool too, but the thing is the first time they painted my truck it looked like total crap and after almost getting in a fight with the manager (he was the one getting all crazy) they agreed to repaint it and it came out okay. I wouldn't even take my lawnmower to Maaco after my last experience
