Just like you'd time any other engine....

Or do you mean you need the firing order??

i mean from stock 351 timing. do i need to advance or retard it or what. i think since the stroke is longer its going to take longer for the piston to go down so wouldnt i need to retard it?

Your cam manufacturer should have a reccomended advance/retarded timing for it's cam... If not, just advance it till she pings on whatever grade fuel your gonna run and then retard it slowly till you here NO pinging at all under any load..

The main factor affecting ignition timing is the head design and what they are made of. Most Ford engines with aluminum heads do best between 32-35 degrees total, while non aluminum do best with 34-38
