Timing Chain Cover differences

Is there a difference between a timing chain cover from a 5.0 ho and a 5.0 non HO, or a difference between roller and flat tappet?

I'm gonna use this cover on my 88 GT if possible and just wanted to know if i could use that cover. Possibly an 85 cover but not sure, thats all the info i have.

I dont think whether it has an HO or not or a flat or roller cam determines what timing cover an engine has. Its more to do with carb or EFI, serpentine or V-belt accessories, and where the water outlets on the pump are.

So if i mock it up to my engine, how would i know it would work for my application?

That is my understanding too should fit all 302 and 351 applications as long as the water outlets and belts clear and it is made for injected engines! Now if it cam off a carbed 302 then I am not sure!!

LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES! I can tell you this: Early 302's and 351's have a differant coolant passage on the rear of the water pump. Found out when I tried to put my 351w (1986 truck reverse rotation aluminum) pump on my windsor. I also had to buy a fuel pump block off plate as I am running electric. Newer covers (efi) have no need for a block off. NOW that I have a 351w from 72 pump, standard rotation cast iron, on my motor, my damn serpentine pulley holes don't line up with the waterpump! BUY a front cover from a 5.0l efi and be done with it! I wish I did.
